Timber CXL is a great warm brown leather with red undertones, with a noticeable pull-up characteristic. These have character right out the box, but over their lifetime they will darken to a noticeably deeper and richer brown, with highlights only peeking through where they're scuffed or where the leather is stretched the most.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs far as leather goes, it's thick and sturdy, starting out noticeably stiff and requiring a few weeks of good wear to really break-in. After that, the leather begins to relax considerably, moulding to take the shape of the wearer's foot and softening at flex points to move more easily.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere's even more magic packed into the fit. Lofgren call these an E width, because they're plenty roomy throughout but we've found them to be pretty accommodating to almost everyone. We suggest still sizing these like most other Lofgren boots, and taking 0.5 size smaller than your brannock size. Shell cordovan is a very specific cut and treatment of horsebutt leather, utilizing a very small (and \"shell-shaped\") section of the lower rump. The tanning and finishing processes are also highly specialized, producing a stiff, glossy horsehide leather that's also notoriously difficult to make and use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe leather also ages very uniquely — while other cowhide and horsehide leathers will crease, shell cordovan curves and rolls, developing a beautiful silhouette as it wears in.
